The Upper Peninsula in Michigan is home to quite a few of these destinations. For instance, Porcupine Mountains State Park (affectionately referred to as the “Porkies”) is about a nine-hour drive from Grand Rapids—a drive that is sure to provide plenty of awe-inspiring sights along the way.
Did you know that there were 100-foot sand dunes in the Midwest? Located in Indiana Dunes State Park, a trip from Grand Rapids only takes two hours. Enjoy a stunning view of Lake Erie from atop a dune!
Drive about five and half hours southwest and you’ll find what might seem like a surprising landscape. In east Iowa, amid fertile farmland, there are a series of caves located in Maquoketa Caves State Park surrounded by a beautiful forest.
If none of those sound adventurous enough, Isle Royale National Park is only about a nine-and-a-half-hour drive north. It’s an island in Lake Superior, populated by wolves and moose no less, only accessible by ferry. We at Pfeiffer Plainfield Used Cars hope to see you on the open road this summer!
