Michigan is famous for its beautiful nature, from its woodlands to beach vistas, and visitors from around the country flock here during the summer months. But, it takes a Michigan native to know that this state can be just as gorgeous and awe-inspiring during the wintertime as it is in the summer.
Winter fun in Michigan is easy to find. From ice fishing to sledding, there’s more than enough to keep you busy and the cabin-fever at bay until spring.
One of our favorite parts of Michigan’s winter is its over 6,500 miles of snowmobile trails. It’s so easy to feel cooped up once mid-January rolls around, and renting a snowmobile and hitting the trails is the perfect way to feel a little (or a lot of) thrill.
If a snowmobile feels a little too “X-Games” for you, you could still find fun on the trail with Michigan’s over 3,000 miles of cross country skiing trails. Not as heart-pounding as a snowmobile, but still a great way to see Michigan’s beautiful, snowy countryside.
For one more round of winter fun in Michigan, give dog sledding a go! There are plenty of kennels across the state that will take you for a pull through the forest for the ultimate Balto-esque experience.
Don’t write off an outdoor adventure just because it’s cold!
